Japan's Mitsubishi beats Shell to buy Dutch power firm Eneco

A group led by Japan’s Mitsubishi Corp will buy Eneco in a deal valuing the Dutch energy firm at 4.1 billion euros ($4.52 billion), Eneco said on Monday, beating off rival bidders including Shell and private equity firm KKR. Eneco, a company owned by 44 Dutch municipalities and with a strong focus on renewable energy, said it had been swayed by Mitsubishi’s plans to allow the company to continue its strategy and retain its corporate identity. Uber's London licence hangs in the balance on expiry day

London’s transport regulator said on Monday it has yet to decide on whether to renew Uber’s operating licence in the city after a media report said the taxi app would lose its right to take rides in Britain’s capital. Roche expects its risdiplam medicine for spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) to get U.S. approval by May, the Swiss drugmaker said on Monday, as it takes on Novartis and Biogen in the lucrative rare disease area. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration granted priority review for risdiplam, an oral medicine for those with the potentially deadly muscle-wasting disorder. European shares lifted by U.S.-China trade optimism; LVMH gains

European shares rose for the second straight session on Monday following reports that Washington and Beijing were nearing a trade agreement, while LVMH gained after signing a deal to buy U.S. jewellery chain Tiffany.
