Under terms of the deal, DuPont shareholders will own 55.4% of the shares of the new company and existing IFF shareholders will own 44.6%, IFF said in a statement. The deal, which has been unanimously approved by both boards, values the combined company at $45.4 billion on an enterprise basis, IFF said. (Bloomberg) — Asian stocks look set to start the week mixed after a partial U.S.-China trade deal yielded few details. The Australian dollar and the offshore yuan were firmer as China avoided extra tariffs.Futures on Japanese and Hong Kong equities dipped. Australian contracts were higher. Washington and Beijing agreed to a first phase of a broader trade deal on Friday that will see China boost imports, including of American agricultural products, and the U.S. halving duties on $120 billion of Chinese goods. China has suspended additional tariffs on some U.S. goods that were meant to be implemented on Dec. 15, the State Council’s customs tariff commission said on Sunday, after the world’s two largest economies agreed a “phase one” trade deal on Friday.
The “phase one” U.S.-China trade deal reached on Friday is “totally done” despite the need for translation and it will nearly double U.S. exports to China over the next two years, U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer said on Sunday.
Trade union Verdi called for workers at a key Amazon logistics centre in Germany to go on strike over the crucial final shopping days before Christmas, demanding better pay and conditions for workers there.
