Fire at San Francisco-Area Fuel Terminal Prompts Alerts

(Bloomberg) — A fire at the NuStar Energy LP.’s fuel terminal in the San Francisco Bay Area spewed black smoke for miles, prompting officials to order local residents to stay indoors.The company is working to extinguish the fire at its Selby Terminal in Crocket, about 25 miles (40 kilometers) northeast of San Francisco, NuStar said in a statement. The blaze affected two tanks, holding “very low volumes of ethanol” comprising less than 1% of their capacity. Adjacent tanks are being cooled to minimize the risk of the fire spreading.
