UPDATE 1-Banco Bradesco meets Q3 forecasts helped by insurance, consumer lending

Brazil’s second largest private-sector lender Banco Bradesco SA on Thursday posted a third-quarter recurring net income in line with expectations, helped by strong insurance results and consumer lending. Bradesco’s recurring profit came in at 6.542 billion reais ($1.64 billion) in the third quarter, up 19.6% from a year earlier and roughly in line with a Refinitiv analysts’ estimate of 6.417 billion reais. A planned merger between Italy’s Fiat Chrysler (FCA) and French Peugeot owner PSA is good news provided it does not affect jobs in Italy, the country’s industry minister said on Thursday. “We will ask FCA for continuity on its industrial plan and on investments and production in Italy”, Stefano Patuanelli said on state television. “The tie-up of two big groups like FCA and PSA can have scale economies on costs but the savings must not affect workers in the country”, he added. …read more […]

Nintendo's second-quarter profit doubles as Switch Lite delivers boost

TOKYO/OSAKA (Reuters) – Nintendo Co Ltd’s second-quarter operating profit more than doubled, blowing past analyst estimates, on strong demand for its Switch console. Nintendo sold 4.98 million units of its hybrid home-portable Switch device in the six months to September and 1.95 million handheld-only Switch Lite units that went on sale in September. Qantas, Southwest step up checks of Boeing 737 NGs after more cracks found

SYDNEY/CHICAGO (Reuters) – Qantas Airways Ltd and Southwest Airlines Co are stepping up checks for structural cracks on Boeing Co 737 NGs after discovering problems with planes that did not require urgent inspections, airline sources said. The cracks are on what is known as the “pickle fork” – a part that attaches the plane’s fuselage, or body, to the wing structure.
