The U.S. Commerce Department’s Inspector General has opened an audit into the federal government’s supervision of a multi-billion dollar contract granted to AT&T Inc, the world’s largest telecommunications company, to build a long-awaited nationwide broadband network for emergency responders. A gunman opened fire at a newspaper office in Annapolis on Thursday, killing five people and gravely wounding a number of others before being taken into custody in one of the deadliest attacks on journalists in U.S. history, police and witnesses said.
