WhatsApp adds shopping catalog feature, courting e-commerce

Facebook Inc on Thursday launched a catalog feature for its WhatsApp messaging app, it said in a blog post, building out the service’s e-commerce tools as it moves slowly toward monetizing the app it bought in 2014 for $19 billion. Facebook has been trying to boost revenue from higher-growth units like Instagram and Whatsapp, which has 1.5 billion users. UPDATE 1-Democratic lawmakers question FAA decisions on Boeing safety issues

The issues involve the 737 MAX rudder cable and lightning protection for fuel tanks on the 787 Dreamliner. Representative Peter DeFazio, who chairs the House of Representatives Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, and Representative Rick Larsen, who chairs the aviation subcommittee, said in a letter to FAA Administrator Steve Dickson that FAA management ultimately overruled the technical specialists after Boeing objected. …read more […]
