FAA chief to testify before Congress on grounded Boeing 737 MAX

Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) chief Steve Dickson will testify Wednesday before Congress on the series of steps that must be completed before the agency will allow Boeing Co’s (BA.N> grounded 737 MAX, involved in two fatal crashes in five months, to resume flying. Dickson will testify before the U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee alongside Earl Lawrence, the FAA’s aircraft certification chief. U.S. electric vehicle maker Tesla Inc plans to increase prices of imported Model 3 vehicles in China in January, sources briefed with the matter said. Tesla plans to increase prices of imported Model 3 vehicles with longer range and those with performance function, which are currently priced at 439,900 yuan ($62,495.56) and 509,900 yuan respectively. (Bloomberg) — China’s Huawei Technologies Co. just won a major seal of approval from one of Germany’s biggest telecom companies.Telefonica SA’s German unit picked Huawei and Finland’s Nokia Oyj to supply its fifth-generation mobile phone network upgrade, the company said Wednesday.The announcement is a boon to Huawei after Deutsche Telekom AG said last week it has stopped ordering new 5G equipment because of political uncertainty over Chinese suppliers. Qantas Airways Ltd said on Wednesday it had taken four Boeing Co 737 freighter aircraft out of service while awaiting further advice from Israeli Aerospace Industries (IAI) about a potential defect with a part within the cabin.
